I was diagnosed in February 1997 and in my 12 years of living with lupus I have been on every available treatment out there. I've even been a part of 2 clinical trials for possible new medications. The only treatment that my doctor and I have avoided due to its extreme toxicity and side effects has been a chemotherapy called cytoxan. However, due to my kidney disease progressing and the lack of control of the rest of my lupus symptoms, I have recently begun receiving cytoxan infusions. This is very scary for me. This is the VERY REASON why we need to find the causes of lupus by advancing research, developing more effective treatments and eventually a cure! We need your donations to do this!
